I like the focus in the bottom picture... i wish his hand was covering the picture more, but overall i really like the photo and the high contrast in the lighting.
the first one is great also, i like the hands... it is kinda creepy that he is trying to grab you. I think the desaturation works well with the content of the photo
I am definitely a fan of the first photograph, the depth of focus that lies past the hands really gives the portrait a good feeling of depth as well as the desaturation being a plus.
I enjoy the film still image. I dont know what film you were recreating but it starts to have a narrative that I think could be interesting with more context. Maybe you could zoom out to give a sense of where he is. Why is he holding the sterio over his head. Is he protesting something?
The intimate image is also interesting and certainly fulfills the 'intimate' quality but the colors seem a little off. There seems to be a lot of purples in the skin and pillow tones. Dont know if thats a reflection from something but editing the color balance might make it feel like more of an honest snapshot which I feel is what you were going for here.
i like the first and third. the third is familiar and we can all identify with this feeling. it feels real. the first works well in many ways. you might try brightening (just a tad) the eye area. otherwise i think the stark lighting works because it feels like he is in an office with that annoying lighting. the second is very recognizable. i wish it was shot from above
I like that both the top and bottom photographs have the subject's hands reaching out towards the camera. I think that it helps to draw the viewer into the photograph.
I think you're desaturated picture is the most successful of the set. A combination of the colors and cropping of the hands make for a very uncanny feel. I'd consider increasing the contrast on his face just a little bit.
In your original three, the midday light rules. I think it should go in your final four without much editing. Something about her expression and the blurred yet identifiable background is comforting.
In your light/shadow piece, I think the most successful aspect is the contrasting light casts of blue and orange, perhaps saturate the piece into abstraction. Or not, that suggestion might be awful.
I like the first photo of this set best, the desaturated colors and the closeness of the subject's hands work very well together. I agree with others who have said that you should try increasing the contrast on his face a little more, this could make his big, dark eyes stand out even more and appear more dramatic.
I really like the depth and cropping of the first photo. It's almost as if he is trying to pull you into the photo with him. erry in a way so I think the desaturation plays off of that feeling.

I really like the first image's color, but I do think it would look nice if the highlights didn't take on too much of the green color tint.
